A Hand Skill Teaching Workshop
As part of the development of a diverse program of teaching on Liturgical Art and Iconography The BVMSD Studio of Christian Art is delighted to offer students and Iconography enthusiasts the opportunity to learn how to create Icon boards and how to become adept at making and applying Gesso to create boards suitable for the writing of Icons in the egg tempera technic & tradition. This course is a unique opportunity to learn how to create a traditional wooden board with Brace and Kivitos (or Kovchek) to work on special shaped round topped boards and to gesso the very special Ealing Abbey Crucifix, originally designed by Stephen Nemethy, formerly artist in residence at Ealing Abbey and whose work many of you will be familiar with. In 2025 we hope to offer a seminar on painting the cross that students will prepare.
There are only 6 spaces available, places reserved with a £100 deposit.
Course Fee £420 per person
Price includes 3 specialist shaped completed boards per student to take home (The Ealing Abbey Cross, a round topped flat birch ply board & a wooden, braced kivitos board.
